The Melting World
I use the same historical building as in The Deluge this time, but in a different manner, yet still in an inseparable connection with the dominant element of water.
It's an exploration of the boundary between culture and nature and the impact of humans on the environment.
Mixed media (layered glass, fibreboard, paint, paper),

This artwork was presented at MalamegiLAB- VENICE´24 Contemporary Art Prize Final Exhibition, 11-25 May 2024, IMAGOARS Campo del Ghetto Vecchio 1145 Cannaregio, Venezia.

The Erosion of Mind
The uniform architecture of the vertical city is being reshaped by erosive power of water. This fluid substance unpredictably dissolves the building structure, crumbling it and transporting the eroded material away. Its action is a complementary contrast to the linear, vertical logic of intellect. The element of water is an irrational, emotional force of nature, a beautiful counterbalance to hegemony of human nature.
San Martino
In the origin artwork The Deluge , a historic secular public building was critically submerged due to sea level rise. At the same time, on another site of Venice, rising waters flood the interior of the hermetically sealed San Martino church.
Natural forces invade the institution of religion. Is this a disaster, or the herald of a new era—a deluge or a ceremonial baptism?

The origin work
The Deluge
The Deluge represents a part of historic public building, a metaphor for human culture being criticaly submereged by sea level rise.
It seems that the cataclystic height of water does not evoke horror, but a new aesthetic of submereged world. It acts like the building is infused with the element of water.
